The Mantlepiece Mosaic is an installation conceptualised for the Living Room 2008 programme run by the Auckland City Council, New Zealand.

The Living Room programme promotes the concept of Auckland’s CBD as our shared urban “living room”.

The Mantlepiece Mosaic is an installation that that uses photographs supplied by the people of Auckland to create a mantlepiece like no other. The installation will create a stunning new form within the glass building of Britomart train station and allow Aucklanders to come together to share their memories while also creating new ones together.

The Mantlepiece Mosaic is the creation of Sarosh Mulla and Patrick Loo, two final year Architecture students at the University of Auckland. Both have collaborated on a number of projects including publications and exhibitions.
